Why Plant a New Church?
Why We Planted a New Church in Monument
A small group of believers in Monument began meeting and praying together with a shared longing: to know God deeply, to worship Him truly, and to live under the full authority of His Word. Over several years we became convinced that the Lord was calling us to plant a new local church built on these simple but life-shaping convictions.
In every generation God calls His people to worship Him as Jesus described “in spirit and truth” (John 4:24). From the earliest church to the great renewal of the Protestant Reformation, the heartbeat of true worship has always been the same:
Because we believe the Bible alone is our final authority, our desire is to order every part of church life according to it. That includes how we worship, grow, and live out our faith together. We aim to cultivate lives that reflect the gospel; this means trusting in Christ’s finished work, growing in holiness by the Spirit’s power, and seeking to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.
We practice believer’s baptism because we believe the pattern of Scripture teaches that we should baptize only those who personally believe in Christ for salvation. Jesus said, “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved” (Mark 16:16), and Peter proclaimed, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins” (Acts 2:38). We believe that baptism is an outward sign of inward faith, a joyful testimony of salvation already received.
Jesus commanded His Church to “...make disciples of all nations… teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19-20). This is the mission of our church. We believe one indispensable aspect to fulfilling this command is teaching the Bible passage by passage, verse by verse (expositional preaching) so that God’s Word sets the agenda. This helps the whole church understand Scripture more deeply and equips every believer to read and apply it personally.
Christians are not only to gather but also to go; to share the gospel, make disciples, and encourage believers in their walk with Christ. We want to see lives transformed by the gospel both here in Monument and around the world. Our mission shapes our priorities of worship, evangelism, discipleship, and outreach.
Every local church has intricate beliefs about God, Christ, Man, and salvation. To provide written clarity, stability, and unity, we have chosen to affirm the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith as a faithful summary of what Scripture teaches. We do not hold the confession above Scripture, but we use it as a tool for unity and accountability. Clear doctrine promotes shared understanding and guards the church from drifting with changing opinions. Having sound doctrine plainly written gives us a solid foundation and unity around the truths we believe. To preserve faithfulness and unity in doctrine and life:
We give thanks to the Lord for leading us, sustaining us, and gathering His people for His name. Our hope is that all who come among us will see Christ clearly, hear His Word faithfully, and join us in worshiping Him with joy.

- Spirit - a people whose hearts are devoted to God, loving Him from their inmost being.
- Truth - a people whose faith and practice are shaped by the Word of God alone.

- Our Pastors and Elders must substantially agree with the 1689 Confession and be able to teach and defend its truths from Scripture.
- Our Deacons and Teachers must also agree not to teach anything contrary to this confession.
- Our Members need only to simply profess faith in Christ, have been baptized as believers, and understand that their leaders are committed to teaching in harmony with these biblical convictions.
We give thanks to the Lord for leading us, sustaining us, and gathering His people for His name. Our hope is that all who come among us will see Christ clearly, hear His Word faithfully, and join us in worshiping Him with joy.
